Alphonse F. "Sonny" Depauw was born on 9-21-1927 and lived at 78 Grapal St. During the Korean War, Alphonse served in the U.S. Army.

Sonny's father owned his home and it was valued at $11,000 ($209,000 in today’s dollars). In 1940, at the age of 12, Sonny was the youngest of 4 children in the household including Clarrisa, George and Marie. They also had 3 other lodgers living with them. At his time his father was 54 and his mother was 51. Both of Sonny's parents had an elementary education and he himself was in elementary school at the time. His father and mother and all of the children were born in New York. The census worker recorded Sonny's father's occupation as a Policeman. In the last week of March in 1940, he worked 48 hours. In 1939, he earned $2,000 ($38,000 in today’s dollars) and worked 50 weeks of the year.

Alphonse "Sonny" DePauw- retired antiques dealer

Alphonse Sonny DePauw of -Rye, a retired antiques dealer, died on 15 Jan 1994 in White Plains Hospital-Center. He was 68. Mr.. DePauw was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Rye to Alphonse Louis and Margaret Bushart DePauw. He was educated in Rye. Mr. DePauw was an U.S. Army veteran. -and a veteran of the merchant marine. The lifelong resident of Rye was one of the original members of its historical society and was a volunteer firefighter for the city. On Oct 20, 1956, he married Mary Ellen McGuire in Rye.

At the time of his death survivors included his wife; two sons, Joseph of Port Chester and Christopher of Rye; two daughters, Jacqueline Ramsey and Linda Kirby, both of Rye, a brother, George of West Palm Beach,' Fla.; a sister, Clarisse Scherre-of Rye, and seven grandchildren. A sister, Marie Connors, died earlier. Arrangements are by Graham Funeral Home in Rye.
