Anthony T. Stavrides was born on April 11, 1934 and raised at his home at 61 Purchase Street in Rye, New York with his mother Catherine, father James, and brothers Timothy, Jack, and George. He is the youngest of four sons to parents born in Turkey. His father worked as a proprietor. He attended elementary school and graduated from Rye High School with the class of 1952. In high school he played both junior varsity and varsity baseball, was a member of the photography club, a member of the candy and class committees, a janitorial assistant and a messenger. He proudly served his country in the Korean War.
