Adrian J. Van Haasteren was born in Holland, June 23, 1910, son of the late Rosier Adrian and Johanna Van Zeulan Van Haasteren. He had four sisters and one brother. In Rye his family lived at 64 Orchard Ave and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.
Adrian enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served from January 1, 1944 as a SC2C. He was awarded two Bronze Stars for his service and was honorably discharged November 8,1945
After the war, Adrian was a chef manager for many years. He was a scoutmaster in Darien and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Cecelia's Church, Stamford.
Adrian J. Van Haasteren, 58, of 27 Lynn Court, Darien, died Friday, October 1, 1968 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Darien. He is a former Rye resident.
A requiem mass was held at Saint Cecelia's Church, Stamford. Interment was in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Nek Rochelle.
Survivors included his wife Beatrice Burk Van Haasteren of the home address; a daughter, Joan of New York City; two sons, Richard of Stamford and A. James of Darien; a brother Rosier A. of Pine Beach, N. J.; four sisters, Mrs. Martina Kulhers of South San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Cora Peters and Mrs. Thomas Morgan, both of Bethelehem, Pa., and Mrs, Ben Sherttenlieb of Pakistan, and one grandson
