Angelo Larussell was born September 27, 1920 in Rye to Nicolas and Maria Genovese LaRussell. In Rye his family lived at 180 Railroad Avenue(Theodore Fremd) and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Angelo was educated in Rye schools and attended Rye High School.
He enlisted October, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
 After enlisting, Angelo was first sent to the Panama Zone. He was then sent to England and landed at Normandy. He was an infantry Sgt. in the 42nd Infantry Division "Rainbow Division".
Angelo fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star. His division was one of the first units to liberate the Dachau Concentration Camp. Angelo was honorably discharged December, 1945
On October 28, 1944, he married Emily Dowgiallo in Muskogee, OK. They had two children during their marriage.
Angelo worked as custodian for Midland School in Rye. He belonged to VFW 8213 in Somers. Angelo lived in Port Chester for 5 years. Before that, he lived in Rye from 1920 to 1995.
Angelo LaRussell died Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at United Hospital in Port Chester, NY. He was 80.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his son Robert and his wife Claudette LaRussell, his daughter Linda and Michael MacCurry, grandchildren Stacie, Kristen and great grandchildren. He was also survived by brothers Nicholas and Paul LaRussell and sisters Marion Walters, Ann Hannah, Rose Evans and Veronica Trovis. His wife Emily LaRussell predeceased him.
Graveside services were held Friday, September 29, 2000 at St. Mary's Cemetery
