Charles E Todenhagen

Charles E Todenhagen, born in Germany on 5/6/1919 his Father, Charles Todenhagen, and his mother, Erna Todenhagen. In 1924 the family moved to Rye, NY.

Here they lived at 19 Goldwin Street in a house valued up to $8,700 ($165,300 in current day payment).

Growing up in Rye, Charles E Todenhagen went to Rye High School, and was a part of the Class of 1938. In high School he played football and was also a member of the school Stagecraft Club.

On May 26, 1940 ,Charles married Arlene Shepard. Together they started their family, having two children.

He enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S Navy in WWII.

After the war Arlene and Charles would move to Poestenkill in Rensselaer County, New York, He was then employed as an attendant at a service station.

Arlene worked as a teacher's aide at Poestenkill Elementary School for 16 years. Following her retirement, the couple moved to the Glens Falls/Lake George area to be closer to family.

Charles E. Todenhagen, 80, of South Glens Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Glens Falls Hospital. Charles was survived by his wife, Arlene Todenhagen of South Glens Falls; one son, Peter Todenhagen of Clarence; one daughter, Sandra Austin of Pilot Knob; three grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
