RYE TRACK TEAM FINISHES SEASON WITH FIVE OUT OF SIX VICTORIES
Out standing on a team which featured even balance rather than individual brilliance was Captain Charlie Tarrant, Rye's "midnight express", who set a mark for future generations of track stars in Westchester to shoot at by compiling no less than 92 points during the season. Tarrant went undefeated in the 100 and 220, winning 12 straight sprint races, and climaxed his High School career by flashing 100 yards in 9.9 (timed on three watches) against Greenwich, faster than any Westchester school boy ever has run before. In addition to this, the Garnet leader set up a new Rye record of 22.5 in the 220, a mark also under the county standard, and created new Rye distances in the broad and high jumps.
