Eugene Donohue

Eugene Thomas Donohue was born on March 6, 1916, in New Rochelle, New York, to Jennie Fitzpatrick, age 35, and Arthur Joseph Donohue, age 37. He had one brother Arthur and a sister Genevieve.

Tragically, their father died in 1919 and their mother in 1924 and the children moved in with their Aunt and Uncle. In Rye his family lived at 11 Blind Brook Lane and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

Eugene enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served on the USS American Legion from 31 Mar 1942 - 30 Jun 1943. American Legion was one of the troop transporter that landed the Marines during the invasion of Guadalcanal. (See Discharge Record)

Eugene married Agnes Patricia Shreders in 1942 and they had one son and one daughter. After the war the he worked as an auto mechanic and the family lived in Greenwich CT. Eugene and Agnes moved to Florida in the late 1980's.

Eugene Thomas Donohue died on October 17, 2004, in Port Charlotte, Florida, at the age of 88, and was buried there.
