BIOGRAPHY
 
H. Engel Hevenor was born in New York in 1915. His family lived in Mamaroneck, New York. Engel served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Dr. Engel Hevenor served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Lieutenant in the Navy Medical Corp. He headed Surgical Team #6 in the South West Pacific.

Dr. Engel Phillip Hevenor, M.D., a resident of Greenwich, CT and formerly of Larchmont, NY, died November 16, 2005.

He was born October 2, 1915 in Stamford, CT to the late Herman and Anna Engel Hevenor. Dr. Hevenor received an Engineering Degree in 1934 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1937 from Harvard University. He continued his studies at Columbia University, where he graduated in 1941 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Hevenor served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Lieutenant in the Navy Medical Corp. He headed Surgical Team #6 in the South West Pacific. He was a General and Vascular Surgeon at Saint Luke's Hospital in New York City and United Hospital in Port Chester, NY. He also maintained a private practice in Rye, NY for many years.

He was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester, and a Knight of Malta. Dr. Hevenor was a member of the Larchmont Yacht Club since May 25, 1960. ?Dr. Hevenor was a gentle caring soul?.

Dr. Hevenor is survived by his wife Elaine Kayiatos Hevenor of Greenwich, CT, daughters Sheran H. Daniele and husband Christopher of Pelham Manor, NY and Renee H. Norman and husband Christopher of Midlothian, VA. Grandchildren: Lia, Christopher and Teresa Daniele and Charles and Clementine Norman; stepdaughter Lisa Baker of Greenwich, CT; sister Julia Hevenor Hanlon of Trumbull, CT. Dr. Hevenor was predeceased by his first wife Clementine Smith Hevenor, who died in 1976.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm today, Friday, November 18, 2005 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 am Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Corpus Christi Church, 136 South Regent Street, Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Dr. Hevenor may be made to American Diabetes Assoc., P.O.
