BIOGRAPHY
 
John W. McGuire

John W. McGuire was born in Boston, Mass., February 12, 1901, he was the son of the late Hugh P. and Mary Ann McNara McGuire. In Rye his family lived at 12 Ellsworth Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. John served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He enlisted in the service on September 15, 1941 with the Army Air Force intelligence headquarters in Washington, D. C, and was released on December 9, 1945 as a colonel after serving in the Italian campaign. He received the Legion of Merit. He had moved to Rye in from Dedham, Mass in 1942.

He was a member of Resurrection Church and of the Wings Club of Biltmore Hotel in New York City, the Air Force Assn. in Washington, the Resurrection Dads' Club, Dads' Club of Stepinac School and the Holy Name Society of Resurrection Church.

He was a graduate of St. Peter's School in Dorchester, Dorchester High School, and Lowell Institute of Technology in Lowell. His wife, the former Aileen Noonon, was a first grade teacher at the Blessed Sacrament School in New Rochelle.

Col. John W. McGuire of 12 Ellsworth Street, vice president George W. Fotis and Associates died suddenly on Tuesday, January 14, 1958, of a heart attack at his office, 342 Madison Avenue, New York City.

At the time of his death he was survived by, his wife, of the, home address a daughter, Patricia Ann, a kindergarten teacher in New Rochelle and of the home address; a son John W McGuire Jr., a student at Stepinac; two sisters, Miss Ann McGuire of Dorchester, Mass.; and Mrs. Helen Duffy of Dorchester.

A requiem mass was held at the Church of the Resurrection.
