Nils E. Benson

Nils Benson was born in Rye, New York on October 12, 1923 the son of Emma and Nils Benson . He had one brother Karl Benson and two sisters Anna and Bertha

He graduated from Rye High School, Class of 1942 and attended Syracuse University. In Rye his family lived at 68 Railroad Avenue.

Nils enlisted and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served with the 5th Air Force in the Pacific.

He married Audrey Adamson on May 1, 1948, in Rye, New York. They had three children during his marriage.

He was President of the Penn Elastic Company in New York City, a subsidiary of Courtaulds of Great Britain. Nils was a former President of the Coveleigh Club in Rye, NY. He was a member of the Union League Club in New York City and was also a member of the Board of Governors of the Continental Can Company

Nils E. Benson died on December 4, 2014, in Norwalk, Connecticut, at the age of 91.

He was survived by his wife, Audrey Adamson Benson, of Darien, Connecticut, his son, Andrew N Benson of Purdys, NY and daughters, Nancy McKittrick of Darien, CT and Diane Cummings, of NYC. He was also survived by eight granddaughters and four great grandchildren
