Peter Cooper Hitt

Peter Cooper Hitt was born on December 24, 1913, in New York City, New York, to Margaret Wells Hamilton, age 32, and Rodney Hitt, age 31. He had a brother Hamilton and two sisters Marjorie and Mary.

In Rye his family lived at 84 Highland Road and were members of Christ's Church.In Rye his family lived at 84 Highland Road and were members of Christ's Church. Peter graduated from Yale in 1935.

He enlisted in the military on November 1, 1941, when he was 27 years old. Peter served as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He would retire a captain in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.

Peter married Barbara Barr Eshleman in Scarsdale, New York, on March 11, 1950, when he was 36 years old. They would have one child during their marriage.

He worked many years in sales with a paper manufacturer.

Peter Cooper Hitt died on July 17, 1984, in Zephyrhills, Florida, when he was 70 years old.

At the time of his death, survivors included his wife Barbara; a son Peter C. Jr., New Orleans, and a sister Mary H. Bryon, Riverside, Conn. Hubbell Funeral Home, Belleair Bluffs Chapel.
