BIOGRAPHY
 
Robert E Wilson was born on April 1, 1926, in Carmel, New York, his father, Wesely, was 27 and his mother, Erminie, was 22. He had three sons and three daughters with Brearley ''Bee'' Wilson. He died on March 18, 2010, in Soldotna, Alaska, at the age of 83.In Rye his family lived at 10 Walker Ave. Robert enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Robert E. ''Bob'' Wilson

Longtime Alaskan and Cooper Landing resident Robert E. ''Bob'' Wilson, 83, died March 18, 2010, at his home in Cooper Landing.

Bob was born April 1, 1926, in Carmel, N.Y., where he graduated from New York University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955.

He first moved to Anchorage in 1959, leaving in 1962, then returning to stay in 1966. He worked for Dun and Bradstreet, being the first resident representative in Alaska. He also worked for the Alaska State Housing Authority and in real estate management until he retired in 1995. Bob was involved with the Russian/Kenai River Stream Watch, Sexy Senior Dumpster Cleaners and the Cooper Landing Senior Citizens Corp.

''Dad initially came to Alaska for work, but his love for the state drew him back,'' his family wrote. ''He was an avid fisherman and spent 44 years doing what he loved, fishing, and was simply a great fisherman. He caught fish when others did not, in places others did not think possible, at times others thought foolhardy. He passed his favorite hobby on to his children and grandchildren. ''In 1996, mom and dad retired to Cooper Landing to be closer to the streams that had brought him so much pleasure. ''To his family, his legacy will be not only be of fishing, but putting family first.''

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Ermine Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brearley ''Bee'' Wilson; sister, Phyllis Castleton of Anchorage; sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Deborah Wilson of Anchorage, Bruce and Debra Wilson of Scotland and Barry and Elizabeth Wilson of Soldotna; grandchildren, Damien, Gabrielle, Melissa, Joshua, Jacob, Wesley, Diana, Logan, Joseph, Andrew, Gina and Jared; and great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kalei, Ashlyn and Sahara Rose.

A celebration of his life will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cooper Landing Community Hall. Pastor James Pearson will officiate.Memorial donations may be sent to the Cooper Landing Senior Citizens Endowment, P.O. Box 552, Cooper Landing 99572.
