Rocco C. Petta was born in New York in 1910. In Rye his family lived at 407 Midland Ave. Rocco enlisted and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Rocco Charles Petta, a resident of Ocala, FL and a former resident of Rye Brook, died May 15, 2002 in Ocala, FL.

He was 91 and born June 1, 1910 in Rye, to the late Louis and Geraldine Palermo Petta. He was raised and educated in Rye.

He was a corporal in the United States Army Airforce during World War II. He was married November 29, 1942 at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester to Ruth Kocher.

Mr. Petta was a devoted physical education teacher in Greenwich, Connecticut Public School System for 25 years until his retirement in 1970. Prior to working in Greenwich he taught in Copake, NY for 3 years and also New York City Schools. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Petta was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Petta of Ocala, FL and two nephews and a niece. Visitation will be at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Monday, May 20, 2002 from 5-9 p.m.

Funeral mass will be at Our Lady of Mercy Church Westchester Ave., Port Chester on Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY. CRAFT MEMORIAL HOME, INC. 40 Leicester St., Port Chester (914)939-0131
