Vincent M. Jones

Vincent M. Jones was born in New York on 8/19/1913 to Joseph and Margaret Jones. He was the youngest of seven with four older brothers and two older sisters. His family lived at 16 Calvert St. Harrison, NY and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

Vincent enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served with the 101st Airborne Paratroopers.

Established in 1918, the 101st Division was first constituted as an airborne unit in 1942. During World War II, it was renowned for its role in Operation Overlord (the D-Day landings and airborne landings on 6 June 1944, in Normandy, France), Operation Market Garden, the liberation of the Netherlands and its action during the Battle of the Bulge around the city of Bastogne, Belgium.

Vincent received the Diistinguished Unit Oak Leaf Cluster Emblem, the Netherland Orange, European- African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, three Bronze service Stars, the Bronze Star, the Bronze Arrowhead, the French Fleur de Guerre.

He worked for the post office for 30 years and retired supervisor for the Grand Central Post Office in New York City. Vincent was a communicant of The Holy Innocents Church, where he was a member of Its Holy Name Society.

VINCENT M JONES Native of Rye died Thursday 12/3/1971 at the Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt Kisco after a long illness. He was 59.


At the time of his death he was survived by his wife the former Anne DeGrazia, two sons Peter Jones of Prospect Ct and Christopher Jones of Sutherland 'Mass two sisters Elizabeth and Rita Jones and a brother Dennis Jones all of Harrison
