William P. St. John

William P. St. John was born on June 11. 1924, to William J. and Anna Barrett St John. He had two sisters, Catherine and Eleanor. In Rye his family lived at 56 Midland Ave. William was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.



Bill served in the U.S. Air Corps in the Pacific region during World War II He Joined the service shortly after graduating from Rye High School.

On Sept 3, 1949, he married Mary Jane Rahilly in the Church, of the Ressurrection in Rye.


After returning from the war, he worked for Chevron Oil Corp. During a 30-year career, he was manager of various operations in the firm's Rye office. On retiring, he began working as a product manager for Besaon Oil Co. in Hasting-on-Hudson.


Bill was a member and director of a Allied Trade Association and the Oil Heat Institute of Westchester. He was a charter member of the Rye Rotary, a charter member and past vice commander of the Rye chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Rye Fire Police Patrol, a volunteer police unit in the fire department and former president of the Rye Chamber of Commerce.

Wiiliam P. St. John, a lifelong Rye resident died at his home march 12, 1989. He was 64.

At the time of his death he was survived by his wife; three sons, William B. St John of Norwalk, Cowl, Steven W. St John of Sarasota, Fla. and Peter S. St. John of Rye; two sisters, Catherine Murphy, of Sarasota Fla., Eleanor Langloh of Rye, and a granddaughter.
