Gilbert "Gil" Weinstein was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 12, 1928. His father Irving was born in Russia and worked in the 1930's as a verifier in the customs house brokerage industry. Gil's mother Fay was born in NY and she was a homemaker. Gil was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Korea from 1952-1953. Gil graduated from N.Y.U. where he was a premed student. Gil and his wife Caryl raised their two daughters at their home on Davis Ave. They lived in Rye from 1976 thru 2017, then he and Caryl moved to White Plains, but they will always consider Rye home.

Continued to volunteer in the community , including 2023. GiL died on June 1 2023, after a valiant struggle to stay alive for doing more in the community he loved(Rye) and all the volunteer efforts with which he was engaged. See  Community Syna vogue recording of his funeral.
