George J. Brown was born in New York on October 23th, 1934. In Rye he lived at 84 Purchase Street, with his father George, his mother Hazel, and his brother John. His father was head of the household and worked as a Truck Driver, making all of the family income. George was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1952. His senior class referred to him as "Susie" and remembered him as a very funny guy. He was an essential part of chorus for all 4 years of high school in addition to choir as an upperclassmen. During his high school years he was also active in the Leaders Club, the Cafeteria Committee, the Junior and Senior Bridge Committees, photography club, Intramurals, and was a G.O. Representative. After high school George Brown eventually came to serve in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War.
