BIOGRAPHY
 
Merton Haselton was born in New Hampshire in 1892. In Rye his family lived at 40 Highland Road and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Merton served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Merton Haselton Dies Suddenly In So. Dennis, Mass.

Merton L. Haselton, formerly of 355 Grace Church St., who retired in 1957 as a vice president of the Teleregister Corporation, of which he was a founder in 1928, died on Monday in his home at South Dennis, Mass. He was 74 years old and had a winter home in Jupiter Inlet, Fla.
Mr. Haselton directed the engineering staff of the corporation until World War II, in which he was a colonel in charge of radar and radio development for the Air Technical Service Command. After the war, he directed radio and electronics operations in connection with the concern's manufacture of stock price quotation boards and other data-processing systems.

After 1957, Mr. Haselton was a consultant to Teleregister. Until two years ago he was instructor at the graduate extension school of the University of Connecticut in Stamford. Mr. Haselton, a native of Hudson, N. H., was born October 11, 1892. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, the Institute of Radio Engineers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the New England Society of Professional Engineering, the Tequesta Country Club and the Jupiter Beach Club. He was a trustee of the American Yacht Club. Mr. Haselton served as Chairman of the Rye Branch of the American Red Cross from 1959 to 1962.

Surviving are his widow, the former Elizabeth Dudley; a daughter, Mrs. W. Sterling Atwater Jr. of Barrington, R. I.; a grandson, William S. Atwater 111, and a brother, Page S. Haselton of Montclair, N. J. Private funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at South Dennis. Memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Rye Presbyterian Church.
