BIOGRAPHY
 
Rocco D. Antinozzi

Rocco D. Antinozzi was born on June 9th, 1917 to parents Antonio Antinozzi and Maria Schindo. Rocco was born on 214 Central Avenue (street view) and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. He was the fourth of eight children (Lawrence, Walter, Jean, Lucy, Rose, Anthony, Joseph). Rocco’s father owned their home, valued at $7,000 ($133,000 in today’s dollars).

Rocco attended Rye High School, class of 1937, and was a rather active student during his education. Rocco was a member of the National Honor’s society, Self-Reliant and Stage Coach.

He was Class President of his junior year, Class Treasurer of his senior year, member of the Golf Team, Junior Varsity Football, Junior Coach, Fingerprinting Club, Home Room Representative, Senior Council member, had a major role in “The Queen’s Husband,” was a member of the Q.V. Club, and was labelled as the Noisiest Senior.

After his graduation Rocco worked as a golf Caddy, working 26 weeks in 1939 and earning $250 ($4,768 in today’s money).

Rocco enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 20th, 1942 and would serve from then until his honorable discharge November 22, 1945.
Soon after, on December 9, 1945 he married Mildred Kraut at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye.

After the war, Rocco was head of the accounting department at Commercial Union Insurance Co. in New York City, working for the company for 45 years. He was a member of the Rye Golf Club since its inception in 1964, a member of the Rye AAA, Owl Association, Port Chester Old Timers and Rye Senior Citizens.

Rocco D. Antinozzi passed away on May 5, 2000, age 82.

At the time of his death he was survived by his wife Mildred and son Richard J. Antinozzi of Myrtle Beach, SC. and his grandson Richard A. Antinozzi of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving were siblings Anthony, Lawrence, Rose and Lucy. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Walter and sisters, Dorothy, Lee and Jenny.
