Daniel Frederick Gerster

Daniel Frederick Gerster was born in Greenwich Feb. 1, 1925, son of Frank and Agda Nystron Gerster. He had two brothers John and Robert and a sister Frances. In Rye his family lived at 40 Locust Ave.

Daniel was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943.

He graduated high school early and enlisted March 26, 1943 when he was 18 years old. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a private first class and was honorably discharged May 16, 1946.

After the war, Daniel continued his studies graduating with an accounting degree from New York University. He married Constance Laing February 10,1951 in Wilton, CT. They would have two children during their marriage.

Daniel and family move to Waldwick N. J. to make their home. Daniel was a federal tax accountant with American Home Products Corp. in New York City..

He had been resident of Waldwick for the past ten years and was a member of the Saddle River (N. J.) Power Squadron.

Daniel Frederick Gerster 43, a former resident of Rye, and the brother of John W. Gerster, the assistant administrator of United Hospital, died July 3 at Memorial Hospital in New York City following an extended illness.

In addition to his mother, Daniel was survived by his wife, the former Constance Laing, a son, Daniel A., and a daughter, Ruth J., all of the home address; two brothers John and Robert A. of Rye; and a sister, Mrs. Frances Wilding of West Hartford, Conn.

Funeral services were held in Ramsey, N. J. Interment was in Redeemer Cemetery, Mahwah , N. J,
