James M. Griffin

James Michael Griffin was born on June 29, 1916, in New Jersey to Mary Agatha Corbett, age 32, and Patrick Griffin, age 36. He had two John and Patrick and a younger sister, Mary. In Rye his family lived at 181 Highland Road and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. James enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

His brother Patrick A Griffin was a bombardier on a B-24 and killed in action in Italy.

James married Catherine Cecilia McLaughlin and moved to Eugene Oregon where they became members of the Weyerhaeuser Company ''family'' raised their two children and lived many years of their married life together.

James Michael Griffin died on December 15, 1979, in Washington, North Carolina, when he was 63 years old.

He was survived by his widow Mrs Catherine Cecilia McLaughlin sons Patrick A of Carrboro Michael C Griffin of Plymouth sister Miss Mary Agatha Griffin of White Plains NY Arrangements by Paul Funeral Home Washington NC

CATHERINE M GRIFFIN CHAPEL HILL Mrs Catherine Cecilia McLaughlin Griffin beloved mother of Patrick and Michael Griffin passed away at the home of her son Patrick July 22 1995 Mrs Griffin formerly resided in Plymouth North Carolina where she and her family moved from Longview Washington in 1965 Mrs Griffin was born and raised in Yonkers New York one of nine children and the daughter of Ambrose and Winnifred Hayes McLaughlin Mrs Griffin worked as a registered nurse in New York prior to her marriage to James Michael Griffin and their move to Eugene Oregon where they became members of the Weyerhaeuser Company ''family'' raised their children and lived many years of their married life together Mrs Griffin was a devoted wife and mother who worked throughout her life for her family and her church community Mrs Griffin is survived by her immediate family Patrick and Ann Griffin and two grandchildren James and Catherine of Chapel Hill North Carolina son Michael Christopher Griffin of Chapel Hill North Carolina sisters Winnifred Kirst of Southampton New York Frances Davids of Levitown New York Ethel Ryan of Yonkers New York Letty Sackett of Yonkers New York Pat-sv Dauenheimerof Spring Hill Florida her brother Ambrose McLaughlin of Eugene Oregon The funeral Mass for Mrs Griffin will be held at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Plymouth North Carolina at 2 pm on Monday July 24 1995 The graveside service will be held later in the week at Mount Calvary Cemetery m White Plains New York Service by Walker's Funeral Home
