WALTER P. MYERS
Walter P. Myers of 15 Hillside Road died on Sunday at the United Hospital after a few days illness. He was sixty-three years old. Mr. Myers, a resident of Rye for thirty-five years, was assistant professor of the Law of Commerce and Finance at New York University's School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance. He was also an attorney and certified public accountant in New York and maintained his office at 1475 Broadway in New York. In Rye he operated the Willys automobile agency and many years ago had the Ford agency.
Born in Peoria, IL, on September 6, 1885, he received the degree of Bachelor of Commercial Science from New York University in 1910 and the Bachelor of Law degree from the same institution in 1913. During the First World War, Mr. Myers served with the cavalry as an adjutant on General Pershing's staff. He held the grade of captain in the cavalry reserve. Mr. Myers joined the faculty of New York University's School of Commerce, Accounts, and Finance in 1915 as a graduate assistant. In 1919 he was appointed instructor of law and in 1921 named assistant professor of law. He was due to retire on August 31. 1951. He was a member of the Rye Presbyterian Church, New York Athletic Club, Army and Navy Club, American Legion, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, New York Bar, Alpha Kappa Psi and Phi Delta Phi fraternities.
Surviving are his wife. Mrs. Laurette K. Myers and two sons Paul and John Myers.
