Michael Negri

Michael Negri was born February 4, 1922 to Michael and Rose Negri. In Rye his family lived at 7 Platt Ln. Michael attended Rye schools and graduated from Rye High School, Class of 1939. He enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

After the war, Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University where he also studied for the degree of Master of Business Administration. He had a long career in sales. His company, MN Associates, provided sales representation for manufacturers in the metal cutting and machining industry.

On December 20, 1968 Michael married Lela Keough at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Scarsdale. In addition to his home in Rye, when Michael retired, he owned a residence in Boca Raton, FL, where he and his wife spent the winters. Locally, he was a parishioner and usher at Church of the Resurrection.

Michael will be remembered for his engaging smile and humor and as an avid health and exercise advocate with a strong interest in nutrition, jogging, and bodybuilding.

Michael P. Negri, a lifelong resident of Rye, died June 25, 2000 after a courageous battle with cancer.

At the time of his death, He was survived by his loving wife, Lela; his son Michael P. Negri, Jr; two grandchildren, Meredith and Michael Dylan Negri of Larchmont, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and six sisters.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Church of the Resurrection, Rye, with interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye.
