Werner Felix Schmidt




Werner Felix Schmidt was born on October 1, 1923, in Evanston, Illinois, to Margaret Edna Chase, age 31, and Werner Bruno Schmidt, age 28. He had one brother Windsor and a sister Dorothy. In Rye his family lived at 66 Milton (Blindbrook Apartments) Road.

Werner was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1941. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was editor in chief of the Hitching Post.

He enlisted in the Army on March 19, 1943, in New York City, New York and served during World War II. He was a graduate of Yale University class of 1945.

Werner practiced general medicine in California, New York and Munich. He was also a painter, published two books, including the Forests of Adventure, and authored 53 plays.

Werner Felix Schmidt died on June 9, 2011, in Burlingame, California, when he was 87 years old.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jane, and his daughter, Victoria Winifred. Survivors included: his wife, Marian; his children, Werner, Robert, Christopher and Martin; and six grandchildren.
