Jacqueline (Rust) McCoy


Jacqueline Rust was born April 1, 1925 in White Plains, NY., the daughter of Franklin M. and Laura (McGraw) Rust. In Rye her family lived in Hix Park.

Jacqueline was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1942 and The Washington School for Secretaries.

She enlisted in May 1945 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Jacqueline served at the Marine Corps Air Station in El Toro, CA.

On November 9, 1945 she was united in marriage to Corp. James Earl McCoy. USMC. The wedding took place in the chapel of the Marine Corps Air Station, Kl Toro, Santa Ana, Calif. They would have nine children during their marriage

James McCoy Announcement has been made of the marriage of Pfc. Jacqueline Rust, USMCWU. to Corp. James Earl McCoy. USMC. The wedding took place in the chapel of the Marine Corps Air Station, Kl Toro, Santa Ana, Calif. , on Nov. 9, The bride ts the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Martin Rust of Hix Park. She is a graduate of Rye High School and The Washington School for Secretaries and enlisted in the Marines last May. Corp. McCoy has been serving in the South Pacific for over two years with the 1st Marine Division. ; His home is in Shelton, Washington. The couple spent a brief honeymoon at Big Bear in the mountains near Los Angeles and then returned to their duties. They will shortly he at home in Shelton each expects to be discharged this month.

Jacqueline enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting and taking care of babies. She was also a master gardener and her specialty was flowers.


Jacqueline (Rust) McCoy died Thursday, June 21, 2018 in Iowa City, IA. She was 93.

At the time of her death survivors included eight children: James McCoy of Denham Spring, LA; Timothy (Kathleen) McCoy of Redfield, AR; Mark McCoy of Olympia, WA; Daniel (Jennifer) McCoy of Tenino, WA; Jonathan (Vivian) McCoy of Eugene, OR; Laura McCoy of Iowa City; Philip (Nancy) McCoy of Lakeville, MN; Andrew McCoy of Tenino, WA; a daughter in law, Dawn McCoy of Riverside, IA, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding Jacqueline in death were her parents, her husband, one son Roy and a sister Sue Jean Rust.
