Roy E. Julie

Roy E. Julie was born in New York May 3, 1922 the son of Roy E. and Mae Julie. In Rye his family lived at 26 Lynden St.. Roy was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1940. He continued his education graduating from Hamilton College, at Clinton. N.Y.

Roy served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enlisted July 1, 1943 and was honorably discharged November 2, 1945.

After the war Roy married Elizabeth Handy on May 26, 1945, in Annapolis, Maryland. They had two children during their marriage.


In 1948, Roy started work with the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland. He was a special agent for the company in Newark, N.J., and Greensboro, N.C., and headed its Richmond office before being assigned to Baltimore.

In 1958. Roy was placed in charge of the Baltimore branch office and in 1966 the company named him a vice president.

An avid outdoorsman, Roy was well known along the Chesapeake Bay as both a hunter and a fisherman. His boat, the Wayward Goose, was a familiar sight on the bay, and he had earned a reputation as a concerned conservationist.

Roy served as a member of the Tidewater Fisheries Commission and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Roy E. Julie, Jr., 56, of Annapolis, who was president of Boone & Rodgers Company, insurance brokers, died of heart failure Sunday April 1, 1979 while vacationing with his wife in Bermuda.

He was survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Handy; a daughter, Darcy Ann Julie, and a son, Roy E. Julie 3d.
