Alexander Newing

Alexander Newing was born on July 3, 1921, in Tarrytown, New York, to Helen L Dunlop, age 37, and Edward William Newing, age 36. He had two sisters Helen and June.

In Rye his family lived at 18 Fenton Street and were members of the Presbyterian Church.

Alexander was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1939.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy before the war on March 4, 1940. He would spend the next 30 years in service to his country. He served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the Navy on March 31, 1970.

He married Ann Szanto on November 9, 1943 and they would have two children. That marriage ended in divorce.

Alexander married Laura Sophie Williams in Norfolk, Virginia, on June 6, 1968, when he was 46 years old.

He died on March 18, 1999, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 77.
