Donald G. Ross

Donald Gunn Ross was born on July 11, 1919, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Edythe Victoria McClare, age 23, and Donald Gunn Ross, age 22. He had two sisters Virginia and Barbara and a brother Richard. In Rye his family lived at 48 Lynden Street and were members of the Presbyterian Church.

Donald was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1937. In high school he played football and baseball and was a member of a variety of clubs.

He received the degree of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering at Cornell University in 1941. Donald was a member of Scorpion fraternity and the Cornell Radio Guild. He was on the freshman baseball team, freshman hockey squad, varsity baseball squad in his sophomore year, varsity football squad in his sophomore year. He held a McMullen Scholarship.

Donald married Andre Lillian Moul on May 24, 1942. They had four children during their marriage.

He was with the General Electric Co. in Schenectady and for a brief period would reside there. The couple are on a short wedding trip they will live in Schenectady.

Donald enlisted June 26, 1944 and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged May 23,1946

By 1950 Donald and his growing family were back in Rye, NY and he was working as a sales engineer in the sound system industry.

Donald Gunn Ross died on January 6, 1986, in Shokan, New York, at the age of 66.
