Richard H. Kingan was born to Agatha and John Kingan on February 23, 1931. He grew up with three siblings, John Kingan, Alice M. Smith, and Barbara Boyd. Richard grew up attending Harrison High School. He was a member of the Current Problems Club and the Spanish Club, played badminton and baseball, and was a member of the Student Council. During the Korean War, Richard served in the U.S. Marine Corps - 2nd Platoon, Company E, 2nd Battalion, 7th Regiment, 1st Marine Division. He unfortunately passed away on June 16, 2011, and is remembered through his 3 children: Kent, Steve, and Richard Kingan.
