  Coleman P. Nimick
Coleman P. Nimick was born in New York City,. Sept. 15, 1916, the son of Alexander K. and Nell Pearson Nimick.. In Rye his family lived at 115 Evergreen Ave and were members of Christ's Church. Coleman graduated from Williams College in 1938
 He enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Coleman served in the Army with the 101st Cavalry and was Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on January 13,1943
With this organization, his group saw combat in northwest Europe during World War II with the XV and the XXI Corps of the U.S. Seventh Army in the Sixth Army Group. Late in the war it was attached to the 12th Armored Division of XXI Corps.
Among other exploits, troops of the 101st Cavalry captured German field marshal Albert Kesselring as well as the Japanese ambassador to Germany in May 1945. Following the war, the 101st Group was inactivated on 25 October 1945 at Camp Myles Standish, Massachusetts.
After his honorable discharge, Coleman was employed for many years at the Chase-Manhattan Bank at the bank's Paris branch. He had lived in New Marlboro, Ma for the over 30 years. He was a past member of the Southern Berkshire Regional School District board and for many years was treasurer of the New Marlboro Village Association.
Coleman P. Nimick died on May 18, 1988, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, at the age of 71, at Hillcrest Hospital after a long illness.
At the time of his death, he was survived by a sister, Mrs. James H. Polhemus of Mascot, Tenn. A memorial service was held at the New Marlboro Village Church, with the Rev. David A. Dean, pastor of the Southfield Congregational Church, officiating.
