Frederick Robinson Peake


Frederick Robinson Peake was born on August 10, 1913, in Wisconsin to Betty Robinson, age 22, and William Woodhouse Peake, age 35. He had two brothers David and Cameron and one sister Allison. In Rye his family lived on 138 Grandview Ave and were members of Christ's Church. Frederick graduated from The Hotchkiss School, from Yale University, and Yale Law School (1938) and began a career with the Union Carbide Corporation.

He served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Peake. 13H Grandview Avenue. He reported here from Fort Ethan Allen, Vt. Capt. Peake is a graduate of Yale University and was employed as a lawyer with the Union Carbide Carbon Corp.

Robin was called to military service coming with the 186th Field Artillery.
The 186th Field Artillery Battalion was part of Fifth Corps, Artillery, landing in Normandy D-Day+ 2, June 8, 1944.

On 6 June 1944, V Corps assaulted Omaha Beach, Normandy. Corps soldiers then broke out from the beachhead, liberated Paris and Sedan, Ardennes, and raced to the German border. After liberating Luxembourg, V Corps fought in the Battle of the Bulge, captured Leipzig, made first contact with the Red Army at Torgau, and, south in Czechoslovakia, liberated Plzeƈ by May, 9 1945.

Robin had attained the rank of Lt. Colonel and earned the Bronze Star.

Following WWII, Robin resumed his legal career, living in Chicago and later in New York City and Polham, NY. He married Gertrude Bradford Preston on July 23, 1965, in New Haven, Connecticut. Following his retirement, they moved to Tequesta. FL, while maintaining a summer home in East Dorset, VT.

Frederick Robinson Peake died in Tequesta, Florida of natural causes on November 1, 1998 at the age of 85.

He was survived by his wife Gertrude and two step-sons: Frederick and William Preston, two brothers; Cameron and David, and a sister. Alison Henning.
