Jerry Beaty lived on Dogwood Lane when he entered the Armed Forces; during WWII he was a Counterintelligence Officer in the European theater. He remained in Germany after the war as a major in the Civil Affairs Division of the United States Forces European Theater.

Jerry Beaty died Aug. 26, 2011, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Jerry entered Princeton from Loomis School with Ty Cobb, Charlie Kip, and Jim Whitlock. He was a member of the Prince, Triangle Club, and Cannon Club and graduated magna cum laude in English. He attended the University of Virginia School of Law.

During World War II, Jerry was an Army counterintelligence officer in the European theater. He remained in Germany as a major in the civil affairs division of the United States Forces European Theater. A member of the Army Reserve, Jerry retired in 1981 as a lieutenant colonel.

Postwar, Jerry joined his family's law firm, Reeves, Todd, Ely & Beaty. It was dissolved in 1975. He then became a partner in Cusack & Stiles, resigning in 1985 to practice solo in Bridgehampton, N.Y., until his retirement in 2001. Both Jerry and his father (Class of 1906) served as secretaries of their Princeton classes. Jerry served as secretary of several corporations, secretary of The Lawyers Club, was on the board of Madison Avenue Presbyter- ian Church, and was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of East Hampton, N.Y.
