Theodore W. "Colaluca" Callen

Theodore W. Colaluca was born Nov 11 1911 in Rye to Eugene and Rose Scalzi Colaluca. He attended Rye public schools graduated from Rye High School. In Rye his family lived at 35 High Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Theodore enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Theodore served in the Army from 1941 to 1944. In 1944 he changed his name from Colaluca to Callen. Before entering the Army he worked as an auto mechanic for Chulew Pontiac in Mamaroneck for about 10 years.

He then worked as chauffeur for film actress Blanche Ring, as well as for Clare Booth Luce an author and former ambassador to Italy, and wife of publishing magnate Henry Luce.

Theodore married Julia Runson in 1944. He lived In Washington DC from 1941 until 1977 when he moved to the Bronx. He worked as a cab driver in New York until retiring in 1984. When he lived in Rye he was a parishioner of Resurrection Church.

Theodore Callen a former Rye resident who worked as an auto mechanic and chauffeur died Aug 20, 1989 his home In the Bronx. He was 77.

At the time of his death , Theodore was survived by his wife and three brothers Anthony of Port Chester and George and Henry Colaluca both of Rye Brook. A sister Theresa Louise Colaluca and two brothers Eugene and Victor Colaluca died earlier.
