Thomas F. Balls


Thomas Francis Balls was born on April 2, 1914, he was the son of the late Matthew and Mary (O'Brien) Ball. He had two brothers Donald and Matthew and three sisters Joy, Irene and Ruth.

In Rye his family lived at 40 New St. and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

He enlisted and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Thomas F. Balls was a S2/c and was stationed in New York.

He married Charlotte Louise Green on Septembe 13,1941. They had three sons Richard, Thomas and Phillip and a daughter.


Thomas was a retired Greenwich postal worker He died on January 4, 1970, in Greenwich, Connecticut, at the age of 55.

Chris, I found some data for my Uncle Tommy,  Service number7015-805.  Enlisted 10-6-43. Discharged 3-3-46.  He served in the Panama Canal Zone, Coast Guard.. He was a fireman in the zone.
