Walter Antinozzi


Walter Antinozzi was born on December 15, 1924 to parents Antonio Antinozzi and Maria Schindo. Rocco was born on 214 Central Avenue (street view) and his family were members of the Church of the Resurrection. He was the fourth of eight children (Lawrence, Rocco, Jean, Lucy, Rose, Anthony, Joseph). Rocco’s father owned their home, valued at $7,000 ($133,000 in today’s dollars).

Walter was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1942. He enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On July 27,. 1947, he married Connie Allevl at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla.

Walter was employed as an executive at Pitney Bowes in Stamford, Conn., and he worked for Pitney Bowes for 40 years, retiring in January 1986. He was president and director of Pitney Bowes Federal Credit Union for 23 years and served as president for the last 15 years.

He was also president of the Pitney Bowes Oval Club and a member of. the North White Plains Volunteer Firemen's Benevolent Association. He was a parishioner of Resurrection Church in Rye.

Walter Antinozzi, a lifelong resident of Rye, died Saturday December 31, 1988 at United Hospital in Port Chester. He was 64.

At the time of his death he was survived by his wife New Rochelle; three brothers, Anthony, Rocco and Lawrence Antinozzi, all of Rye; three sisters, Dorothy Lamp, Rose Antinozzi and Lucy LaBruscjano, aty of Rye; a daughter-in-law; and two grandchildren. . - Mr. Antinozzi -was devoted to his fiunily, said his son. He .was not only my Gather, but my best friend, he said.N - A brother, Joseph, and a sister,. Lee Donovan, died earlier.
