Albie E. Collins was born December 17, 1930 in Forest Hills, Queens, New York City. Albie attended Stuyvesant High School in NYC, and went on to Dartmouth College, graduating in 1952. At Dartmouth he studied history and was a star athlete, being captain of the squash and tennis teams his senior year. In recognition of his achievements, since 2001 the Ivy League has awarded the Albie Collins Trophy to the league men's tennis champion. After graduating from Dartmouth, Albie enlisted in the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and went into the Korean war. After the war, He married Margaret Blood and settled in Rye, NY where they raised 4 children (Amy, Albie 3rd, Stephen, and Michael).
