Kenneth Kedney was born on August 28th, 1926 and lived at 189 Purchase Street with his father, his three brothers (John, Charles, and Peter) and his sisters (Winifred and Agnes). Kenneth's mother died at age 51 before he entered 6th grade, when he was 11. During this time Kenneth's father worked as a chef in a restaurant in Port Chester. All members of the family worked and chipped in to make ends meet during the depression years. His brother, John worked as a milkman and Kenneth helped him on his morning rounds. Kenneth attended Rye Country Day School, and helped to organize holiday events at the Rye YMCA. He served inthe Army in both the Korean War and World War II when he enkisted at the age of 18.
