Mark A. Getzendaner


Mark Abraham Getzendaner was born on October 16, 1918, in Princeton, Iowa, to Catharine Alice Cramer, age 22, and Mark Abraham Getzendaner, age 26. He was raised and educated in Davenport, Iowa. Mark graduated Davenport High School class of 1936 and then the University of Cincinnati Law School.

He married Cora Maurine Keller on June 11, 1939. They had three children during their marriage. In Rye he lived at 47 Hill St. and was associated with Rye Methodist Church

Mark enlisted in the military on September 21, 1944, when he was 25 years old. He served in the US Army during World War II and was honorably discharged March 26,1948.

After his discharge, he was an attorney for the U.S. government and served as general counsel for the Alaskan Communications System in Seattle.

Mark A. Getzendaner Jr., 71, died Thursday June 28, 1990 in Seattle. He was predeceased by his first wife Maurine Keller Getzendaner in 1974.

At the time of his death, survivors included his wife, Patricia Johnson of Seattle; daughters, Heidi Baker of Lake Oswego and Karol Kay Getzendanner -Teadtke of Vancouver, Wash.; son, Mark A. Ill of Everett, Wash.; sister, Martha Mann of Bend; brother, the Rev. David. C. Getzendanner of Salem; and two grandchildren.

Services were held in Barrick mortuary and Interment at City View Cemetery, Salem, WA
