Scott Harrison

Scott Harrison was born on March 9, 1926, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Helga Anderson and Leonard Harrison. He had one brother Vance and in Rye his family lived on Thistle Lane. Scott was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1944.

He enlisted 23 June 23, 1944 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His Active Duty Service Number was 42145937. He served with Co. I of the 4th Infantry regiment.

In World War II, the 4th Infantry Regiment (separate from the 4th Infantry Division) primarily defended Alaska and assisted in the recapture of Attu. The regiment focused on territorial defense and island campaigns in the Pacific theater, distinct from the 4th Infantry Division ("Ivy Division") which fought in Europe.

Scott was honorably discharged May 14, 1946.

After the war he attended Syracuse Universuty and majored in Forestry.

Scott worked as Recreational Planner, US Forest Service for many years in Alaska, including one report that can be found online about the Nancy Lake Recreation Area published in 1967.

Scott Harrison died May 17, 1977 in Anchorage, Alaska.
