Carlos B. Lemos

Carlos Brandow Lemos was born on August 22, 1917, in Brooklyn, New York, his father, Antiono, was 31 and his mother, Bulah, was 29. He had one sister, Helen Lemos. In Rye, his family lived at 2 Blind Brook Lane and were members of the Presbyterian Church.

Carlos graduated from Rye High School in 1937 where he had been Ninth Grade Class President and President of the Band. As a musician he also played in the Rye High School Orchestra and Dance Orchestra.

Prior to enlisting in the Army on March 5, 1941, his occupation was listed as “Electrician”. He was married to Dorothy M. Lacer in 1946.

While serving in the Army, he participated in four landings: North Africa, Sicily, Normandy and Inchon, North Korea. He retired from the military on October 31, 1963, and then worked for the IBM Corporation.

He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Annapolis and the Retired Officers Association. He passed away on November 22, 2001, in Fairhope, Alabama.

His obituary noted, “Mr. Lemos is survived by many friends.”.

LEMOS, CARLOS BRANDOW (Age 84) Passed away Thursday, November 22, 2001 in Fairhope, AL. He was a native of Brooklyn, NY and a former resident of Washington, DC. Mr. Lemos was a lifetime member of the VFW, Annapolis, MD. He participated in four landings in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy, France and Inchon North Korea. Mr. Lemos was retired from the US Army and IBM. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association. Mr. Lemos is survived by many friends.
