William James Homer

William "Bill" James Homer was born on October 21, 1927, in Mount Vernon, New York to Irene Homer, age 20, and William Homer, age 20. In Rye his family lived at 51 Purchase St.. Bill was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1945.

He enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. See Muster Rolls

William J. Homer, S 2/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Homer of Radcliff Avenue, is with the Recruiting Training Unit of the NTTC, and is now stationed at Memphis, Tenn. Bill, who entered the Navy on April 12 after accelerating his studies at Rye High School and completing them last January, was a member of the National Honor Society and excelled in athletics.

In 1948, Bill moved from Rye to Pinellas, Florida and was manager for the Paint House in Pinellas Park, for 35 years. Hel married Ramona Ruth Vaughan in Pinellas in June 1962.

William "Bill" James Homer, 55, of 5446 54th Ave. N, died Friday (Feb. 18, 1983).

At the time of his death, he was survived by four sons, Peter W., Stephen R., Thomas and Kenneth, all of St. Petersburg; three daughters, Marcia A. Amos, Trenton, Fla., Wendy J. Homer, Madeira Beach, and Monica Homer, St. Petersburg, and five grandchildren.
