BIOGRAPHY
 
Dr. H. Engel Hevenor

Dr. H. Engel Hevenor was born October 2, 1915 in Stamford, CT to the late Herman and Anna Engel Hevenor. His family lived in Mamaroneck, New York.

Dr. Hevenor was graduated from Harvard University cum laude in 1937 and from the College of Physicians and Surgeons. Columbia University in 1941. He had his surgical internship at St. Luke's Hospital. New York City, and continued there as assistant resident surgeon for five years, until he left to practice in Rye and New York' City.

Dr. Hevenor enlisted September 27, 1943 and served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Lieutenant in the Navy Medical Corp. He headed Surgical Team #6 in the South West Pacific. He received his honorable discharge July 8, 1946.

He married Miss Clementine Helen Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeSueur G. Smith of 909 Peace Street, Pelham Manor, in St. Catharine's Church, Pelham on September 3,1951. The Rev. Patrick Kearny officiated ,the Papal Blessing was bestowed on the couple and a reception followed in the garden of the Smith residence.

Dr. Hevenor was a General and Vascular Surgeon at Saint Luke's Hospital in New York City and United Hospital in Port Chester, NY. He also maintained a private practice in Rye, NY for many years.

He was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester, and a Knight of Malta. He was a member of the Larchmont Yacht Club since May 25, 1960. Dr. Hevenor was a gentle caring soul?.

Dr. Engel Phillip Hevenor, M.D., a resident of Greenwich, CT and formerly of Larchmont, NY, died November 16, 2005.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife Elaine Kayiatos Hevenor of Greenwich, CT, daughters Sheran H. Daniele and husband Christopher of Pelham Manor, NY and Renee H. Norman and husband Christopher of Midlothian, VA. Grandchildren: Lia, Christopher and Teresa Daniele and Charles and Clementine Norman; stepdaughter Lisa Baker of Greenwich, CT; sister Julia Hevenor Hanlon of Trumbull, CT. Dr. Hevenor was predeceased by his first wife Clementine Smith Hevenor, who died in 1976.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Corpus Christi Church, Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
