Alexander David Walker Jr.

Alexander David Walker Jr. was born on August 7, 1918, in New York, New York, to Helen Talbot Earle and Alexander David Walker. In Rye his family lived on Locust Avenue and were members of the Presbyterian Church. He was graduated from the Taft School in Watertown, CT, and in 1941, from Yale University.

During World War II, Alexander enlisted April 29,1943 served as a lieutenant in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific theater of operations. He was honorably discharged July 24, 1946.

He married Norma Warner Magnus June 30,1951 in Christ Church Greenwich, CT. The ceremony was performed by the Rector of the church, Rev. Dr. Albert M. Wilson, assisted by the Rev. Edward Nason Wes Canon Sacrist of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York. A reception followed at the Belle Haven Beach Club. The couple would have four children: Alexander David Walker III, Hilary, Lucia, and Douglass.

At the time of his marriage he was with the Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co., in New York City and was a member of the Manursing Island Club in Rye.

After the war Alexander became a prominent business executive. He was a senior executive at McCann-Erickson Worldwide, one of the world's largest advertising agency networks.

He was a community leader in Greenwich, Connecticut. He served as the President of the Northwest Greenwich Association and was a dedicated supporter of the Greenwich Historical Society.

Alexander David Walker died on January 12, 2001, in Greenwich, Connecticut, when he was 82 years old.
