Alexander R. Howell


Alexander Robert "Bob" Howell was born on October 5, 1915, in New York City, New York, to Josephine Ogier Judson, age 27, and Alexander Robert Howell, age 28. He had two sisters Joan and Patricia.

In Rye his family lived at 77 Grace Church St. and were members of Christ's Church.

Bob attended Rye Country Day School, the Loomis School and attended Columbia. Before the war he was working with Wellington Sears in New York.

Bob enlisted in U.S. Navy during World War II. He served from 1942 until 1945 and participated In the Pacific theater.


He married Alice Boddie Likely, Saturday January 3, 1942, in the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City. They had two children during their marriage.

After the war Bob was a textile engineer for the Warnaco Co. until his retirement in 1978. He was an avid reader and sailor.

Alexander Robert Howell, 81, of Woodvale Road, Branford, CT. died suddenly Saturday, (Oct. 26, 1996) in Minneapolis, MN.

At the time of his death, besides his wife, he was survived by a son, David S. Howell; a daughter, Alison J. Howell, both of Essex; a sister, Patricia Chaves of Panama City, FL, and three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the First Congregational Church in Branford, CT and he was buried in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
