BIOGRAPHY
 
Alexander R. Howell was born in New York in 1915. In Rye his family lived at 77 Grace Church St. and were members of Christ Church. Alexander enlisted in U.S. Navy during World War II.

HOWELL. Alexander Robert Howell, 81, of Woodvale Road, Bran-ford, died suddenly Saturday, (Oct. 26, 1996) in Minneapolis, MN. He was the husband of Alice Likely Howell. Mr. Howell was born in New York City, Oct. 5, 1915, son of the late Alexander R. and Jose- Rhlne Judson Howell. He served in le US Navy from 1942 until 1945 and participated In the Pacific theater. He was a textile enaineer for the Warnaco Co. until his retirement in 1978. Mr. Howell was an avid sailor. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, David S. Howell; a daughter, Alison J. Howell, both of Essex; a sister, Patricia Chaves of Panama City, FL, and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be sent to the Homemaker's Thrift Shop, 76 Maple St., Branford, CT 06405. A memorial service will be at the First Congregational Church in Branford, Friday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m. The Hawley Lincoln Memorial. 1315 Boston Post Road, Guilford, is in charge of arrangements.
