BIOGRAPHY
Bruce Blackwell was born in New York in 1927. In Rye his family lived at 37 Halsted Place and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Bruce was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1945. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
BRUCE BLACKWELL Bruce Blackwell, 39, of Stone Hill Road, Pound Ridge, died Friday at Stamford Hospital of injuries sustained in an auto accident which occurred August 16 during an intense rain storm on route 137 in Stamford. Funeral services were held Monday at the Harrison Funeral Home. Interment was in Greenwood Union Cemetery. Mr. Blackwell was born in Greenwich, July 31, 1927, son of the late Helen Carter Blackwell and Richard Blackwell. He later lived in Rye where he attended Rye schools and subsequently lived in Mount Kisco, Pleasantville and Pound Ridge. He was a World War II veteran, having served in a Naval aviation unit. Mr. Blackwell is survived by his wife, Marilyn Page Blackwell; his father, Richard Blackwell of St. Thomas, Virgin Island; a son, Bruce Jr., of the home address; two brothers, Ridge of Greenwich and Lee of Hartsdale; and an uncle, George Blackwell of Rye.
