 Charles Ernest Reutter
Charles Ernest Reutter was born on December 22, 1917, in New York City, New York, to Mildred Louise Meadows and Charles Ernest Reutter. He attended Rye Country Day School, Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Mass., and was a 1939 graduate of Yale University. In Rye his family lived at 509 Boston Post Road.
After graduating from college he went to work for the Chrysler Corporation in Michigan. Charles married Harriet Rogers Flannery on June 22, 1940, in Southfield, Michigan. They had six children during their marriage.
Charles enlisted December 28,1942 and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
After his discharge Charles returned to Rye, he was a self-employed mechanical engineer. In Rye his family lived at 62 Mendotta Ave. He was a member of Christ's Church and the Apawamis Club in Rye and belonged to the Hyannisport Club in Massachusetts.
Charles Reutter Charles Ernest Reutter Jr., 59, a former Rye resident, died November 29, 1977 after suffering a heart attack at the home of his uncle, Robert Henry Reutter of Hillside Road in Rye.
At the time of his death, survivors included his wife, the former Harriet Flannery; two sons, Charles E. III of Annapolis, Md. and Richard H, of West Hyannisport; four daughters, Mrs. Alexander (Judith) Blanton of New York City and Mrs. Stoddard (Kathryn) Malkado of Acton, Mass., Miss Anne Reutter of Baltimore, Md.
and Miss Elizabeth Reutter; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Ernestine) White of Clemmons, N.C., and four grandchildren.
