John Wilson Brown

John Wilson Brown was born on August 20, 1915, in Port Chester, New York, to Eliza Jane Bircham, age 39, and Robert Brown, age 37. He had one sister and three brothers and in Rye the family lived on Locust Lane.

John attended Milton School and was a Rye High School graduate, class of 1934.

He married Elizabeth Washburn on June 19, 1936, in White Plains, New York. They had two children during their marriage. Before the war, John was working at Woolworths on Purchase St in Rye.

He enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war John and his family lived in Port Chester before moving to Boiceville, N. Y.. For many years he was employed as an engineer by International Business Machines in Kingston, NY.

John W. Brown, 50, a former Resident of Rye, died Friday December 31, 1965 at the Benedictine Hospital, Kingston, N. Y.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Washburn Brown, a son, John W. Brown, Jr. of Stamford, Conn., two granddaughters, Alison and Meredith Brown, and a brother, George Brown of 425 Milton Road, Rye.

Funeral services were held at Woodstock and at the Netherwood Baptist Church, Salt Point, N. Y. Burial was in the Netherwood Cemetery
