Leander Ferris was born in New York in 1926. In Rye his family lived at 35 Oakland Gardens and were members of Christ Church. Leander enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Ferris, Elizabeth R. Elizabeth R. Ferris "Betty", (nee Rose) passed peacefully on June 22 at the age of 93. Betty grew up and lived in Rye and Mamaroneck her entire life. She is survived by her sister Mary Lou Jurs and her two nieces Patricia Jurs and Deborah Jurs. She was predeceased by husband, Leander Ferris, Jr. and three brothers Jack, Michael and Daniel Rose. Betty was a bookkeeper for many years at Charles Librett & Co in New Rochelle. She also had a career in Real Estate, held a GRI and worked for Ann Pastor and at Weichert Realty in Rye. Betty was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels and well-loved not only by her family, but many little kids in the 50's and 60's at Rye Colony who used to stop by her door and knock for lollypops. Betty enjoyed boating on Long Island Sound with her husband Lee, her family, friends and her dogs. The family will receive friends at 11 AM on Monday June 26, 2017 at the Graham Funeral Home in Rye, NY. A graveside service will immediately follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye. Leander Ferris Jr Leander Ferris Jr a lifelong Rye resident and a retired heavy machinery operator died Saturday at United Hospital He was 57 and lived at Rye Colony Apartments Mr Ferris was a heavy machinery operator and mechanic for the NNW Concrete Co of Tarrytown for U years until his retirement in 1983 Bom in Port Chester on Dec 13 1926 Mr Ferris was the son of Violet Parliament Ferris and Leander Ferris Sr His father sur- vives in Yorfctown-' During World War IIMr Ferris served with the Navy in the Pacific He was a volunteer with the Milton Engine h Hoae Fire Go in Rye for many years and its captain for two years during the 1950s He was a parishioner of Resur- -rection Church in Rye He belonged to Elks Lodge 1457 of Mamaroneck In addition to his father Mr Ferris Is survived by his wife the former Elizabeth Rose of the home address one brother Charles of Rye and one sister Muriel Carpenter of York town
