Martin S. King

Martin Stone King was born in New York March 31, 1928 the son of Eileen Burke King and Walter King. His ancestors immigrated to America from Ireland. Vincent had four brothers, Walter Jr., Vincent, Donald, and Bruce. He was raised and educated in Rye and was a graduate of Rye High School. In Rye his family lived at 138 Osborn Road.

Martin enlisted June 27, 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served as a seaman 1st class abord the USS General George M Randall.

Commissioned in April 1944, she made multiple voyages between the U.S. and India, Australia, and France. In 1945, she was redirected to Manila to repatriate troops and Japanese diplomats after the war's end.

Martins service number was 716 99 639 (See Muster Rolls). He was honorably discharged on August 22, 1946.

Upon his return home, he worked as a machinist for Scientific Corp. in Greenwich, CT.

He married Miss Clarine Deane Young June 24, 1966 in St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Scarborough, NY. For their honeymoon, The couple traveled off the coast of New England in his cabin cruiser.

Martin was then working with Enterprise Associates, a construction firm, in New York.. He and his wife were both members of the skiing organization, the Westchester Snow Cats. Martin was an assistant scoutmaster in Rye for many years. The couple retired to Florida where they continued with their love of boating. He and Clarine would remain married for 44 years.

Martin Stone King died October 8, 2010 in Pierson, FL.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, a brother Vincent and several nieces and nephews.
