Fred L. Kurr
Fred L. Kurr was born in New York November 29, 1917 to Fred and Suzanne Burpee Kurr. He had a brother David and a sister Katherine and in Rye his family lived at 66 Milton (Blind Brook Apts).
Fred was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1935. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

PUERTO RICO’The Chapel at
Fort Bundy was the scene of a lovely
ceremony recently when Alicia Matta Veve, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luis
C. Matta of Fajardo, P. R. became the
bride of Fred L. Kurr, Jr., Lieutenant,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Kurr of
Blind Brook Lodge, Rye, New York.
Chaplain Joseph C. Noll officiated before a notable company of guests.
Miss Matta, member of a prominent
Puerto Rican family, received her
education at the Fajardo High School
and at the Sacred Heart College in
San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Lieutenant Kurr received his preparatory education at Rye High
School, and both his A.B. and Master’s
degrees at Dartmouth College. He
entered the service in 1942. After
serving for approximately nine months
as an enlisted man, he was graduated
from the Coast Artillery Officer Candidate School at Fortress Monroe and
has been stationed in the Caribbean
Area since December 1942.

The couple remained in Puerto Rico and raised a family.
Fred L. Kurr died in PR on April 1, 1983 and was buried at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery, Bayamon, Puerto Rico
